The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is the first part of The Hobbit movie trilogy that tells of the adventures of Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), a hobbit who sucked in the adventure to reclaim the dwarf kingdom and Erebor from Smaug the dragon clutches. Bilbo was invited to join by Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) finally go adventuring with thirteen Dwarves led by the warrior Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage). Dangerous journey they took Bilbo facing the Goblin, Orc and Warg deadly. On the way to the Lonely Mountain, Bilbo meets the creature named Gollum (Andy Serkis) who will change his life and the life of all creatures in Middle Earth forever.

In addition to featuring some familiar characters such as Elrond (Hugo Weaving) and Galadriel (Cate Blanchett), we finally get a glimpse of the appearance of Radagast the Brown (Sylvester McCoy) whose pictures have been circulating the past few days. After The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the story of Bilbo's adventures will continue in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (2013) and The Hobbit: There and Back Again (2014).



The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is a film directed by Peter Jackson. The screenplay was written by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyen, Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro. The film stars Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Andy Serkis, Sylvester McCoy, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Jackson introduces new technology in movies such as "48 frames per second" that will produce sharp images and stunning visuals that have never been used by any film before (normal films generally only produce images 24 frames per second).

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will be released on December 14, 2012, through regular and IMAX formats.
